A bit about Katie
So you wanna know about me...huh?
I am a 31-year-old graphic web designer from Tulsa, Oklahoma. At an early age I exhibited a great amount of artistic abilities. I expressed my art and design talents by painting and drawing with every different medium including crafts of all kinds. The moment I discovered the possibilities of computer arts my passion for design intensified which enabled me to further expand my skills and teach myself new techniques.
I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BA in Advertising and Graphic Design. I gained professional experience through a thirteen-month internship as a graphic designer for the University of Oklahoma athletics department. There I worked hands-on, handling the design and art direction needed to promote over 20 Division 1 programs and the needs of one of the largest athletics departments in the country. After college, I moved back to Tulsa and got the position of Sr. Graphic Designer/Art Director of FN Mag, a Tulsa based magazine that caters to young professionals. FN Magazine was great experience but hard work. Some of my best work was done while designing the magazine.
Directly after it was published, I got a position at creative web marketing firm, Winston Media as a graphic artist/ web designer. There I got the opportunity to design print, multimedia materials and web sites for clients all over the country. I got my second magazine published during this time, The Aerostar Log for the Aerostar Owners Association. I also helped promote and plan the Tulsa White Party and The FN MAG “Rock Your Shades Party”. After working at Winston Media, I began doing freelance web design and graphic artwork for local Tulsa bands and business.
In early February '09, I started designing for an Austin-based WakeSkate company, Budley Boards. I started by creating the WakeSkate deck designs and since they loved the deck designs they asked me to create their entire website along with two online shops and 40 T-shirt designs. Eventually being the primary designer for Budley Boards opened up a lot of other opportunities in Austin, Tx. So I packed my bags and move to Austin and began freelancing for small business and musicians.
After living in Austin for 3 years, I got a job opportunity to work for a well respected web development company, Creative State of Tulsa, Ok. I am currently still working with CS and have loved every minute of it.
